Where are we going?

Let's see following list and can somebody tell me where are we going? Indonesia oh Indonesia ...

1. Lapindo mud flood, how are you? Are you already forgotten by other newer issues?
2. First gold medal after the 10th day of SEA Games? Indonesia must be kidding! We forget long term training and competition, substitute them with instant solutions, and now we get the results.
3. Being the host of Climate Change Conference is definitely a plus, US is indeed the number 1 carbon dioxide producer, yet Jakarta sky is getting darker and darker due to pollution.
4. Floods in Jakarta happened to be a 5-years cycle, but currently have been yearly events. What have we done to avoid that? Nothing
5. After Indonesian flights are banned by European Union due to lack of safety and security standards, still we have long list of newer accidents : components fail from airplane, fire in airport, and a man with mental-illness successfully entered plane without ticket!
6. The average number of writing assignments for high school students in Indonesia is only one per year. No wonder the lack of writing skills is being an inherent weakness of Indonesian students (include the writer :))

If we read Kompas daily, I am sure that we can add at least an additional item every day. Sounds pessimistic? Yes I am. I do love Indonesia, but I really have no idea where the country is going. A friend complaints about the non-existence of an integrated solution for Jakarta's transportation problem, and I told him that we're not going to make it unless everybody has a goodwill and willingness. Sad but true, goodwill is something that we can not buy, and moreover hardly to find in Indonesia.

Penyebab No. 1 adalah kemiskinan.
1. banjir krn jual hutan gak punya
uang
2. Transportasi jkt krn banyak
urban dari desa yg miskin,
mbludagnya tenaga kerja.
3. Penyebab lain ya korup n segala
aspeknya.

Thanksgiving 2020

What a crazy ride we have been riding in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has pretty much put our life on hold, if not going on a slower pace. I feel that we are running a marathon, and it's not over yet. The emotional toll that we have been experiencing since March is real. Everything that we used to take for granted, like meeting up with friends, birthday parties, kids activities, traveling, the convenience of doing grocery shopping anytime we want, a lot of them have been taken away from us, from my family. No more parties, no more lunch or dinner with friends, no more invitation for birthday parties, no more traveling. Perhaps my life had become too easy before the pandemic. We had to switch Nathaniel from a brick and mortar school to a cyber school. I tried to plan my grocery trips ahead of time to avoid crowds. We had to wear masks everywhere. But at least we are healthy. At least I am facing this together with my husband and kids as a family. At least I am at home that is fu...
All of a sudden my thoughts fly to my old friends tonight. How are they all doing? I miss the good old days. I am here, content and happy, but somehow I still miss them. People come and go in your life, but true friends remain in the heart, no matter where they are now, right :) ?
